Business Developer
If most of this fits you, but not everything, apply anyway. We hire for what really matters. Attitude and potential are also important signals for us.
The situation
Our business developer sold the first project after 40 days, with no experience in the sector and without a rehearsed script or an existing playbook. The first five conversations led nowhere and what ultimately worked was simply to keep calling. That is exactly the attitude we are looking for again now to expand the capacity of our sales team. We are looking for two more enthusiastic business developers who want to help build the growth of Stretch Innovation.
We build Growth Engines for clients who want measurable, scalable and predictable growth. We apply that methodology to ourselves as well, which allows us to generate warm leads. You take those warm leads through the entire sales funnel. You open doors, take the potential new client along in our story and work out a proposal in collaboration with experts. You are only truly satisfied when the signature is under the partnership proposal.
Through this role, Stretch achieves its commercial goals and that makes your impact directly felt in the team.
What you'll do
We also keep experimenting all the time to see what works and what doesn't.
Your work starts with incoming leads and runs all the way until you close the deal. You sell commercial contracts for growth projects with an average value of around 42,000 euros, for clients in a wide range of sectors, both B2C and B2B. Never a dull moment, since every client is different. This means that, especially at the beginning, you will be calling a lot of leads. As soon as you book meetings, you will also be involved in those. The faster you keep up with what we do, the faster you get ownership of the entire funnel.
To do that, you first need to understand what a client needs before you can close. The pitch you use today for one segment may already be a different one next quarter, because it can change as you get to know the market.
You'll feel at home here if
... you have closed commercial deals before, where you were in the driver's seat from start to finish and didn't just book demos, because hunting for new business gives you more energy than managing accounts. You pick up the phone without hesitation, in both Dutch and English, and stay motivated even when it's a difficult day. Since your impact here is big, both internally and externally, we expect you to give feedback.
You'll struggle here if
... you need a finished deck and a stable pitch before you want to start calling. If you prefer managing existing relationships over opening new ones, then this is not the role. If you measure your own success by how much you did instead of looking at your results, that mismatch will quickly become visible.
What you get
A permanent contract of indefinite duration, where we proactively share the salary range in the first conversation.
An uncapped commission on invoiced deals: 1.5% on deals under 20,000 euros and 2% on deals over 20,000 euros, with 3% on the part of your annual revenue above 1 million euros and 4% on the part above 1.5 million euros.
A company car that fits your level, with a fuel card.
Our culture is entrepreneurial and direct: you get responsibility quickly. If something doesn't work, you hear about it quickly too, just as you are free to say what you notice yourself.
You work together with Wout and Hannah in the sales team and report to Jeroen De Broyer (our CRO), and your input counts from day one.
You work together with strategists, marketers and designers to win projects with a fixed price and a clear scope.
Over time you get ownership of the entire funnel, from lead to closing, with you in the driver's seat.
You work in a hybrid way from Antwerp, mainly at our office at the beginning.
To apply
Tell us about a deal you closed that required perseverance: how big it was, where it started, what went wrong along the way and what it took to win it anyway.
